We have drafted a message for your legislator in the Vermont House of Representatives about the proposed budget cuts to HIV/AIDS services:

I am asking you to restore proposed cuts to HIV/AIDS services

  • Restore $135,000 to AIDS Service programs
  • Restore $50,000 to HIV Prevention services
  • Restore $140,000 to the AIDS Medication Assistance Program

This is why:

  • The existing service system is efficient and effective, keeping Vermonters living with HIV/AIDS in care in their own communities

  • Without care, Vermonters living with HIV/AIDS are at high risk for acute medical crises and expensive hospitalizations

  • Prevention services reduce the risk of HIV transmission, a significant public health issue
You can use the above text when contacting your legislator.

The contact information for your legislator is at this website:

What will happen in Vermont if services are cut:

  • Over 200 people with HIV in Addison, Bennington, Caledonia, Essex, Franklin, Grand Isle, Lamoille, Orange, Orleans, Rutland, Washington, Windham, and Windsor Counties will lose significant access to medical care, nutrition, housing and other basic services

  • Syringe Exchange Programs in Burlington, White River Junction, and St. Johnsbury that serve over 1,000 people will be closed

Thanks!  Together we will get these cuts restored!
