The Women’s Program

Working with women through community-building, education and interventions to achieve awareness of HIV and build capacity for safer sex. Communicating honestly, clearly, and accurately, our staff and volunteers address the myths and promote the facts about HIV/AIDS and the rewards of practicing safer sex behaviors.

We offer support, training, and leadership skills for individuals in building healthier communities through the following opportunities:

We reach women who are vulnerable to HIV infection from sexual contact with male partners. The program seeks to build partner and other social support for safer-sex behavior change.

Safe Talk: Exclusively for women, these are informal gatherings at women’s homes, where trained facilitators guide discussions about HIV risk-reduction techniques and help to build prevention skills

Role Model Stories: Success stories from women and men about their experiences in adopting safer sex behaviors for HIV/AIDS prevention are printed and shared with others

Peer Outreach Network: A specially trained team of community members conducts street and on-site outreach throughout their own communities and at community events

Community Network: A network of businesses, agencies, and organizations support our goal by displaying role model stories and other HIV prevention and health materials, and by co-sponsoring program events.
